The Foley Products Manufacturing Facility was one of the most demanding industrial projects undertaken by Cougar Companies, requiring extensive site preparation, complex excavation, and heavy-duty concrete construction to support the operations of a precast concrete manufacturing plant. This project brought together multiple Cougar Companies divisions, combining our civil and concrete expertise to deliver a highly specialized industrial facility. The work began with the excavation of two large equipment pits that required the removal of approximately two feet of cap rock. Due to the challenging subsurface conditions, our crews utilized a large excavator equipped with a hydraulic hammer attachment to complete the rock excavation. The project also required an extensive dewatering operation to maintain a safe and workable excavation. Four hydraulic pumps—including two 12-inch pumps, one 10-inch pump, and one 8-inch pump—operated continuously, 24 hours a day for more than a week to control groundwater and allow construction to proceed. On the structural concrete side, Cougar Companies constructed a massive 24-inch-thick monolithic concrete slab designed to support the heavy industrial equipment and demanding production environment of the facility. The placement required more than 4,000 cubic yards of concrete and strict adherence to tolerances and sequencing to ensure long-term performance and durability. The Foley Products Manufacturing Facility demonstrates Cougar Companies' ability to successfully execute large-scale industrial projects that demand specialized equipment, extensive coordination, and technical expertise.
